Travel Hockey
For those who have participated in House League or have played hockey with a previous organization, Travel League is the next step in homing in on advanced skills, position coaching and a more competitive play environment.
Canton Akron participates in the Cleveland Suburban Hockey League. CSHL is the premier youth hockey league serving the Northeast Ohio region since 1971.
Ages
- Mite: 5, 6 ,7 & 8 Years of Age (2017-2020)
- Squirt: 9 & 10 Years of Age (2015-2016)
- Peewee: 11 & 12 Years of Age (2013-2014)
- Bantam: 13 & 14 Years of Age (2011-2012)
WHEN
There are two tryout opportunities - one in April and one mid-August. Final team placements are decided after the August tryouts.
- Mite: Fri, Apr 4, 6:00-7:00p AND Sun, Apr 6, 10:30-11:30a
- Squirt: Fri, Apr 4, 7:10-8:10p AND Sun, Apr 6, 11:40a -12:40p
- Peewee: Thur, Apr 3, 6:40-7:40p AND Sat, Apr 5, 3:40-4:40p
- Bantam: Thur, Apr 3, 7:50-8:50p AND Sat, Apr 5, 4:50-5:50p
Official practices begin the week of Labor Day and the league season ends with playoff finals the first week in March.
WHERE
Practices and home games are held at the Center Ice Sports Complex in North Canton.
Games may be played across the CSHL region and may include travel for tournaments and non-league games. Generally higher-level teams travel more.
PRACTICES
Teams practice for one hour 2-3 times during the week. Younger age groups generally practice at earlier times.
Some teams require additional off-ice training or films.
GAMES
Teams play 18-24 league games from mid-October to mid-February (includes a preseason for divisional seeding).
Your team may also participate in 1-3 weekend tournaments over the year which offer a total of over 30 games/season.
Some teams will also schedule non-league games that could involve travel.
8U ADM/Mites play half-ice games.
ADM Blue Teams (reserved for beginning players) play an abbreviated 8-10 game season starting in December.
JERSEYS
Players must purchase both a home and away uniform.
Uniforms consist of both a jersey and hockey socks.
This cost is separate from our listed fees.

Canton Akron Hockey Association (CAHA) fundraising efforts cover all CSHL league/ref fees, reimbursement for certifications for required coaching, purchases of equipment for team use, and other costs associated with the program.
